Parasitic worms crawl into travelling couples’ bums

Parasitic worms crawl into travelling couples’ bums

A British couple on a Carribean cruise wound up with a nasty souvenir after sitting on a beach at the picturesque island of Martinique.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it doesn’t get much more cringy than this so be warned.

And if creepy crawly friends make you feel a bit sick then stop reading NOW.

Ok, here we go.

The unnamed couple reported feeling a burning sensation on their backsides which quickly escalated to a series of “red pinprick marks” on their butts, according to the British Medical Journal, where the story first appeared.

After the steroids and antibiotics provided by the cruise ship failed, the couple wound up at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where they were diagnosed with cutaneous Larva migrams.

AKA: hookworm larvae.

On their butts.

Hold on, it gets worse.

The doctor who treated the couple, Dr Douglas Maslin, shared their story through the British Medical Journal.

Complete with photographs of said infected butts.

The photos were then picked up by several tabloids which, understandably, was too much for one of the subjects who probably didn’t LOVE the idea of having pictures of their butt plastered all over the internet.

The BMJ has since removed the article, but Mirror still has the pictures up if you’re game enough.

Again, we warn you, they’re a bit graphic.
