OTG Tours reports Egypt comeback

On the hillside woman thrilled looking at the boiling abyss. Powerful Gullfoss in Iceland.

On the Go Tours has selected its top destinations for 2017, with Sri Lanka, Egypt and Iceland leading the charge.

With a client base that ranges from 18-80, the tour operator has seen resurgence in travel to Egypt.

“We were known as the Egypt operator, it’s how we started. Pre-revolution it was 50% of our business and we have since diversified,” On The Go Tours general manager Natalie James said.

“People have waited until things calm down. And I don’t want to tempt fate but nothing negative has happened in the past few years,” James added.

Meanwhile, Vietnam is the best-selling destination in the Australian market.

“Anyone is an On The Go client, our age range from 18-80, all we ask is that they have a passion for travel, a sense of fun and a relatively good level of fitness,” James said.

“Although they’re not walking tours per se we do up to 16 km a day walking so they can be quite fast-paced.”

They guarantee with a minimum two people.

“That’s really important for consumer confidence, we’ll only cancel if there’s volatility and DFAT advises us,” James said.

The product has distinct ranges: adventure, handpicked, independent and signature.

The handpicked range partners travellers with other tour operators, to keep costs low.
