NSW Minister showcases Sydney at IMEX Frankfurt

Showcasing the best practice for aligning business events with government policies, New South Wales (NSW) Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres MP, will fly the Sydney flag at IMEX Frankfurt this year.

Minister Ayres is also responsible for delivering the keynote address at the 14th annual IMEX Politicians Forum at Villa Kennedy Frankfurt today.

The high profile event will attract up to 40 politicians, including national and regional government ministers, and political influencers with around 80 industry leaders.

In his speech titled ‘How Meetings and Events Can Fulfil Political Optimism’, Minister Ayres will talk about the importance of matching business events with trade, investment and export policies and how cities should make the most of the wide-ranging benefits that investment in business events can bring to a city.

“I’m excited to address the Politician’s Forum on the major issues affecting our industry,” said Ayres. “Business events are key drivers for our State – stimulating the knowledge economy; supporting trade and investment; talent acquisition and retention; and fostering sustainable future growth.”

The event runs 19-21 April, including a full-day program with a VIP guided tour of the IMEX trade show, and visits to delegates’ own national or regional stands.

“Delivering on our clients’ objectives is our core focus – their effective collaboration with our local industry, business and academia is key to fostering trade and investment, sparking innovation and fuelling productivity,” said Business Events Sydney (BESydney) CEO, Lyn Lewis-Smith. “Our close engagement with government also benefits our clients, helping them to maximise opportunities in Australia, and to discuss broader matters of industry and community.

BESydney and International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) have once again joined Business Events Australia on its stand (B230) and will meet with leading international associations and organisations interesting in hosting an upcoming business event in the city. The market will be particularly interested in what’s new in the city, including the grand opening of ICC Sydney in December 2016.
