No risky business with MTA

Mobile Travel Agents launches Zero Flight Risk, one of the industry’s biggest initiatives since the TCF was dismantled.

Heralded as a “ground-breaking” initiative, MTA’s co-managing directors Roy and Karen Merricks will officially launch ‘Zero Flight Risk™’ later today at an industry gathering to include guests AFTA ceo Jayson Westbury, Virtuoso global ceo, Matthew Upchurch and the home-based agency group’s brand ambassador, Jessica Watson, amongst others.

“The launch of ‘Zero Flight Risk™’ represents a first for an Australian-owned company and the Australian travel industry and is one of the biggest developments to take place on the local travel landscape since the Travel Compensation Fund (TCF) was dismantled on 30 June 2014,” the company stated in a release to media.

According to the statement, ‘Zero Flight Risk™’ with tagline: “Don’t let your money go away without you™”, will cover any client purchasing travel products and services through MTA.

“The company will guarantee their funds in the event of any approved travel intermediary or end supplier becoming insolvent and being unable to deliver the product or service,” the company stated.

Suppliers include airlines, wholesalers, tour operators, coach companies, cruise lines, hotels, resorts, trains, car hire companies and destination management companies.

“‘Zero Flight Risk™’ goes much further than the previous protection afforded under the former Travel Compensation Fund which only guaranteed clients funds in the event of the failure of a TCF member,” the company stated.

Despite having ATAS membership, the travelling public may not have any recourse should a supplier fold in the post-TCF environment as there are no policies in place that offer full protection from company insolvency.

Travel Weekly will bring more details after attending the meeting today.

    1. um sounds great, but what happens when a big airline folds ? It will happen. Might be next week, might be decades away, BUT it will happen.

You surely can’t insure against that.

Are they insisting everything is paid for by credit card ?
(putting it back on the banks ?)
