New Airbnb campaign creates #OneLessStranger

New Airbnb campaign creates #OneLessStranger

Airbnb has jumped into 2015 with a new campaign that hopes to bring people around the world a little closer.

The challenge comes out of the #OneLessStranger hashtag, and brings its first ever television and cinema campaign down under to life, with the title ‘Never a Stranger’.

While it took four years for Airbnb to gather one million guests, it’s a testament to how much travellers are growing accustomed to staying with strangers that the company now has some 30 million guests, and over one million listings globally.

At the heart of the campaign is Ellie, who in a letter to her Airbnb host shares the memories of her travels, from dealing with concerns of staying in a stranger’s house, to making friends and embracing the local culture.

In creating ‘Never a Stranger’, Airbnb has taken a personal approach in engaging its host community, evidently the key factor in its product offering, and features actual hosts and listings across the globe.

The five cities Ellie visited – New York, Paris, Tulum, Tokyo and Rio – are portrayed through a myriad of images, and lets you hear from the locals and hosts she encountered along the way, from Alyssa with her Brooklyn apartment in New York, Axelle and Antoine in Paris with their cosy flat, and Miki with her traditional garden in Tokyo.

The campaign will be featured across the US, UK and Australia with media buys in broadcast, digital, cinema and social.
