“Mysterious odour” sends American Airlines cabin crew to hospital

A mysterious smell has sent the cabin crew of an American Airlines flight to hospital over the weekend.

The aircraft was travelling from Philadelphia to Fort Lauderdale when the staffers noticed a strange “odour” onboard, according to Fox News.

“Shortly before landing, crew members complained of an odour onboard,” a spokesperson for the airline told Fox News.

“The aircraft, an Airbus 320 with 137 passengers and a crew of five, landed safely and taxied to the gate. Two pilots and three flight attendants asked to be taken to the hospital as a precaution.”

The spokesperson also confirmed that no passengers required medical attention and that the aircraft is being evaluated by their maintenance team.

“I heard one of the security guys walk by, and he’s like, ‘I need four wheelchairs. We need one ASAP,” passenger Andrew O’Donnell told ABC 10.

“They just sort of wheeled everybody off and they said they smelled an odour on the plane.

“And when that happened, they said that they obviously weren’t going to let anybody else on.”

According to the Express.co.uk, the airline said the smell was the result of an issue with the plane’s air conditioning unit.
