Multi-million dollar hotel for Adelaide

A 30-floor hotel and apartment block is set to spring up in Adelaide after a deal by South Australian and Singapore developers.

LGB Australia and Singapore’s Park Hotel Group have agreed to the $175 million project in Pirie Street, in the city’s CBD.

The hotel would be 30 storeys high, including a 10-floor hotel with 250 rooms, and almost 300 apartments.

“This is a coup for South Australia – an upscale city hotel would boost out $5 billion tourism industry and support the more than 33,000 people it employs,” Tourism Minister Martin Hamilton-Smith, who is attending a state government trade delegation in Southeast Asia, said in a statement on Tuesday.

If the project is approved, construction is expected to begin in 2017 and wrap up in 2018.
