Midweek Interview with Criteo’s Pressy Sankaran

This week we get up close and personal with Pressy Sankaran, Criteo’s ANZ Commercial Director, until he suggested we sit further away.

The challenge for the industry is…

Finding the right balance between delivering a unified consumer experience and driving sales at scale

The things I like about my job…

Being involved in cutting edge innovation day-to-day and being at the forefront of the adtech movement. It’s an exciting space as it’s fundamentally changing the way we do business — particularly in the travel industry.

And the frustrations are …

The copious amounts of noise in the space that are irrelevant to a travel advertiser’s marketing objective.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

I would be on a motorcycle driving around Asia

Favourite airline?

The one that offers the most value and comfort.

My proudest moment was…

Travelling around Nepal. The trip was challenging and incredibly humbling as I spent a few weeks really getting back to basics. It’s so important sometimes to get out of the corporate world and take some time to do things that push you out of your comfort zone.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

When I was a kid I used to hide my dad’s wallet (a lot) to make him think he was losing it. He still doesn’t know.

I try to relax by…

Getting out of the craziness of the city and going on camping and fishing trips.

The last time I feared for my life was…

When I got mugged in Portland. I’m actually from Portland but I found myself in a dodgy neighbourhood.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Long queues — they’re the worst!

I really wish I had…

Some kind of teleporting device. I love travelling but I don’t love the whole rigmarole of getting from A to B. I travel a lot for my job so it would be great if that could happen within the blink of an eye!

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

‘Don’t assume bad intentions over neglect and misunderstanding’

I don’t understand why people…

Pay $4 for a cup of coffee…one of the only downfalls of living in Sydney.

My greatest weakness is…

I care too much

And my greatest strength is…

I care too much 🙂

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

I would buy a million lottery tickets for a larger jackpot

If I was prime minister I would…

Push through legislation that promotes equality

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…

Customer Service rep. The amount of crap they must deal with…

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

The Middle East or Antarctica.

My favourite holiday was…

Visiting Teotihuacan outside of Mexico City!
