Man found dead in Crown Metropol hotel room

A man has died after his neck was slashed in a room at Melbourne’s Crown Metropol hotel yesterday.

Victorian police have yet to arrest anyone involved in the death and are reportedly examining CCTV footage and speaking to hotel staff to gather evidence.

According to an AAP report, police are searching for at least two suspects believed to have been in the room at the time of the altercation.

The man, in his 30s, reportedly died in an eighth-floor suite and all parties were known to each other, but police say there was no evidence there was a domestic dispute or that drugs or gang activity was involved, but the room was booked by a person known to the police, AAP reports.

Following the incident, hotel guests who had been startled by what happened considered cancelling bookings, it was reported.

The incident comes weeks after a 10-person brawl erupted inside Crown’s exclusive Club 23 nightclub and a Fairfax Media investigation revealed how violent crimes occur every three days on average at the complex.
