Insight says no competitors in India

Insight Vacations has said there is no competition for its Luxury Gold product in India and they have found a gap in the market for group tours.

“India is always very much a FIT high-end independent travel destination and we thought there’s a real gap there to do it on a group basis,” Insight Vacations Australia managing director Joost Timmer said.

The group program provides safety in numbers and comes in at a lower price point of $500 per day, Timmer said.

“If you’re travelling independently and staying in these Taj and Oberoi properties you’ll be looking at $1000 per person per day so we feel it’s fantastic value for money.”

The operator launched its Luxury Gold India program to the trade last night with the aid of cricketer Brett Lee.

Agents swamped the cricketer for selfies following the event, which began with a Bollywood dance lesson courtesy of Insight Vacations India managing director Rohit Kohli.

There are ten itineraries through India, Nepal and Bhutan in the 2016 brochure.

“We look at what our competitors are doing, but there really are none for India,” Timmer said.

“Australia is still the biggest source market so it’s very important that we cater in terms of product mix correctly to the Australian consumer,” Timmer said.

Insight Vacations bookings for India have doubled in the last year, up 100%.

Timmer credited the e-visa program with this growth. “Between 2014-15, Australia was the fourth major country to purchase these online visas, illustrating an appetite amongst Australians.”

To wrap things up, Brett Lee was humble when discussing his musical fame in India. “Just goes to show you how many people like cricket.”
