Getting lost in a new city, having no idea where to eat or what to do or just bored waiting at an airport?

Well, it turns out Facebook Messenger has got your back for more than just letting your mum know you’re safe.

In fact, Facebook Messenger has teamed up with a number of travel brands to give you heaps of easy-to-use and unique features that will make going on holidays a completely new experience. So we’ve rounded up a list with tips to take off with Messenger on your next trip.

Take off with Bots

Messenger Bots are the perfect travel buddy! Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your next travel adventure or want to find the best spots to eat, have a chat with TripAdvisor’s bot.

Check flight details or get in touch with customer service via Qantas Concierge, or receive daily weather forecasts every morning about the place you’re staying with Poncho.

Messenger’s got you covered, even with the latest news worldwide. Just search your preferred news outlet on Messenger and choose the topics you’re most interested in.

Check-in with Live Location

Meeting with friends while travelling just got easier with Messenger’s Live Location. Share your exact whereabouts or find your mates by following the red pin on the map.

In a message tap the Plus icon next to the text box and select Location — the other person will know where you are for 60 minutes. Say goodbye to wandering around with your friend on the phone explaining how to get to them.

Catch up with Video group calls

Missing home or just keen to share a moment with your loved ones? Start a group video call to chat with up to 6 people at once and see their faces as you show them around the places that you are visiting.

Add frames to calls to make it more fun; put Grandma bunny ears or give Dad a temporary new look by tapping the video effects option.

Chill out with Instant games

Commuting around new cities or waiting for a connection flight? Use this spare time on Messenger to play some all-time favourite games, including Pac-Man, Snake and Space Invaders.

Or try some of the new titles that have just been added such as, Words with Friends, EverWing and 8Ball Pool. There are over 50 games available for every type of gamer.

To play, simply start a conversation with friends or yourself, click on the plus sign next to the text box, go to the ‘Games’ option and choose a game.
