Hotel Review: Hidden Villa, Canggu, Bali

Hotel Review: Hidden Villa, Canggu, Bali

While Kuta, Legian and Seminyak have been staples in the Australian holiday diet for years, Canggu to the west has been quietly gaining notoriety amongst those in the know. Villa stays dominate here where the ‘real’ Bali fuses with hipster influence.

Rooms 10/10

master-bedroom

Unlike a hotel, Hidden Villa offers way more than a room. In fact there’s 4 bedrooms (each with en-suite), two living areas, a kitchen and giant garden with private pool. The entire property hosts a range of antiques and bespoke styling that falls from the pages of a glossy homes magazine.

Service 10/10

Many great villas have staff that merge into the background like you’d expect from a five star hotel. That’s not the case with Hidden Villa, the staff are the heart and soul of the property. They cook, they chat, they clean, they chat, they play with the kids and then chat some more. It was like staying with really good friends who let you rule the house. Saying goodbye was hard.

Facilities 7/10

pool-gallery

The villa is more than ample for a family and a second family could make use of the neighbouring cottage for larger groups. The pool will be loved by all kids but facilities are on the lean side. The in house menu is quite simple but there are many fantastic café and restaurants nearby. Neither of the living areas have a TV, which some guests may struggle with, but there are TVs and DVD players in all bedrooms as well as a piano in one of the living areas for those who fancy tinkling on the ivories. Furthermore the the beach is only 100m away.

Value for money 9/10

Bookable via www.ministryofvillas.com/villas/hidden-villa-bali/ rates start at US$200 a night. Bali is well known for offering exceptional value for money and Hidden Villa is the perfect example.

Overall  9/10

downstairs-dining

With temples, paddyfields, great surf, shops, bars and cafes Canggu is the coolest place on the island right now. Imagine Byron Bay or Surry Hills in Bali. Hidden Villa is perfect for clients who want to stay in a property that feels authentic without being kitchy and avoids the soulless over-design of an architect, which can occur in the area. Bookable via Ministry of Villas’s trade portal this and all other villas are fully commissionable for travel agents. If you have customers thinking of Canggu then this is the place for them.
