Helloworld changes its name

Helloworld changes its name

The formidable Helloworld travel agency has made a name change – and we know you’re dying to know what it is.

The Board of Helloworld Limited, as it’s officially known on the Australian Stock Exchange, has advised that a meeting will be called to approve the change of name of the listed company in the near future.

And the name they will be changing to is ‘Helloworld Travel Limited’. Very similar to their current one, but more emphasis on the whole ‘travel’ thing, which we guess is pretty important.

The approval meeting is slated for 10am on April 10 2017, with a notice of General Meeting to be issued shortly.

It seems Helloworld is shaking off the shackles of years gone by, and this name change signals the start of a fresh era. Last week, the agency reported a rebound in half year profits, from a $1 million loss to an $18.7 million profit pre-tax.

Meanwhile, the agency’s C-suite has had its fair share of appointments swinging in and out of HQ.

2016 saw Delta cut its ties with Helloworld, as well as the shock departure of CMO Kim Portrate, head of wholesale Peter Egglestone, CFO Jenny Macdonald, and Qantas Holidays and Viva! Holidays general manager sales Fiona Dalton, who joined The Travel Corporation.

Helloworld’s new CEO, Andrew Burnes, joined the company early last year, and at the Helloworld for Business forum in Singapore said of the senior shake up, “This whole team is invigorated to make sure Helloworld is a stronger business tomorrow than it is today and it’ll be a much stronger business in 2020 than it is today.”

Helloworld merged with AOT Group in February 2016, which was a large contributor to its profit turnaround.

So what are your thoughts on the name change?
