An Emirates flight attendant has died after falling from the emergency door of a parked plane and onto the tarmac at Uganda’s Entebbe airport.

The BBC reports the woman, whose age and nationality is not known, was preparing the flight for boarding when she fell.

In a statement, Uganda’s aviation authorities say the flight attendant “appeared to have opened the emergency door” and “fell off an aircraft that had safely landed and parked”.

The woman was rushed to Kisubi hospital but died soon after.

A hospital spokesperson told the BBC she had injuries all over her face and knees and she had been unconscious but alive when she arrived at the hospital.

According to News.com, one witness who works at the airport named Isaac Seremba described the fall as a suicide attempt.

A local newspaper, the Daily Monitor, also cited suicide, claiming the woman appeared to have intentionally jumped.

It is not yet known whether her death was self-inflicted or a horrible accident.

Emirates have promised to “extend our full co-operation to the authorities in their investigation.”
