Couple denied entry to Bali after cute dog chewed on passport

A UK couple was turned away at the border after showing up for their honeymoon in Bali, and we wish we were joking.

After flying 16 hours from the UK to Bali on October 16, Daniel and Tia Farthing were denied entry into Indonesia because part of Daniel’s passport had been damaged.

The damage in question was a chewed-up corner, bitten by the couple’s four-year-old labrador collie cross Milo when he was a puppy, news.com.au reported.

The couple had saved up over $7000 for their dream honeymoon trip, which fell on their one year anniversary.

But Indonesian border officials told the pair that Daniel’s passport was not in an acceptable enough condition to grant them entry to the country, and they were made to board the first flight back home. We just hope they didn’t blame the doggo when they (eventually) got back.

UK border authorities had told the couple the passport was a non-issue, and that it would be fine getting Daniel into Bali. But apparently, the Indonesian authorities did not agree.

And the nightmare didn’t end there: on the way home, the couple had a stopover in Singapore, where Daniel was detained for seven hours and treated like a criminal, while his panicked wife spent almost $400 trying to contact relatives back home.

When they eventually arrived back home, a flight attendant who heard what had happened took a look at Daniel’s passport and said: “Is that what all the fuss was about?”

Since the couple lost thousands on the failed holiday, Tia’s sister has started a GoFundMe campaign to help them. And no, their travel insurance won’t cover any of the costs.

“This whole experience has been absolutely traumatic for the both of them and they do not deserve this to happen to either of them,” the sister said, as per news.com.au.

“So what we want to do is show Tia and Dan how much we all love and care for them and how much we all want to help.

“So we have started this page to ask our friends and family to help us raise some funds to try and give them some hope that they can and will get the honeymoon that they have always dreamt of and deserve!”

The campaign has exceeded it’s goal in less than two weeks, raising almost $1500 for the couple.

Here’s to hoping Milo won’t chew on his owner’s passport ever again.
