Comeback complete for Lizard Island

Comeback complete for Lizard Island

The $45 million refurbishment of Lizard Island Resort is finally complete after a 16-month process to return the property to full operation after it was devastated by cyclones Ita and Nathan.

The opening of the Marlin Bar marks the final stage of the renovation, with the waters surrounding the island coincidentally due to welcome Marlin from across the Pacific over the next two weeks.

Greg Ware, executive director of Australian Parks and Resorts at Delaware North Companies which owns the resort, praised the staff and partners that had worked hard to get it back in operation.

“The tireless efforts of our staff and partners over the past 16 months sees us in a really solid and exciting position to reestablish Lizard Island as a world leader in luxurious resort accommodation,” he said.

Although the majority of the property has been accessible to guests since June 5, this final launch marks the end of the recovery operation.
