Introducing Peppers Silo: Launceston’s iconic new hotel officially opens its doors
Launceston’s iconic new Peppers Silo Hotel has opened its doors to the public with an official celebration, of more than 1000 guests and dignitaries gathering to commemorate the landmark hotel opening on Friday, June 1.
Originally erected in 1960, the Kings Wharf grain silos were left unused for decades until two years ago when construction began to breathe new life into the structure, transforming the silo barrels into a state-of-the-art contemporary new hotel. The redeveloped site is now a ten-level hotel featuring 108 guest rooms, including 52 inside the barrels of the former silos, a restaurant and bar called Grain of the Silos, undercover car parking, conference facilities for up to 500 people, and an integrated lobby and reception space.
Located in a prime position on the edge of the River Tamar and close to the beautiful Cataract Gorge, the once unused silo barrels have transformed into a $25-million luxury-by-design redevelopment which includes one and two bedroom apartments.
Amenities at Peppers Silo includes a fully equipped gym, relaxing day spa, child minding facilities, hairdressing salon, function centre, private dining rooms, restaurant and cocktail bar with views overlooking the water all the way to Cataract Gorge.
Sunrise Live Weather Broadcast from Six Senses Fiji
Winter is approaching in Australia so how better to raise spirits than by broadcasting live weather crosses, to the nation, from sunny Fiji! The Seven Network Sunrise team packed their bags and spent this morning in various out-of-the-ordinary locations at Six Senses Fiji for their live weather crosses back to Australia.
Presenter Sam McMillan got involved in all aspects of the resort to showcase the best that Six Senses Fiji has to offer. From peaceful, beachfront residences to getting hands on with bathing Sid the pig, he left no stone unturned. Arriving in style Sam touched down in a helicopter where a full choir were waiting to welcome him with the welcome song and a big smile and an even bigger bula (hello)!
Aiming to capture the true essence of Fiji, Sam took part in a yaqona (kava drinking) ceremony with the experiences team in the stunning setting of an Ocean View Residence … the perfect location for his first kava (pepper plant root) experience. As well as this he was treated to a meke (traditional Fiji style) performance from the talented team dressed in full Fijian grass skirt costumes.
What a brilliant way for Australia to start their day … viewing a little slice of paradise over their morning coffee. Six Senses Fiji hopes to welcome viewers to the resort very soon, whether it be for a long weekend getaway, a celebration vacation or a big family get together, the resort can cater for all needs with special offers to tempt guests even further.
