The annual Wyndham Destinations Corporate Surf Challenge charity event was again staged at Duranbah Beach, Tweed Heads, on Friday, 12 October 2108.

And once again Hawaiian Airlines was proud to sponsor the event, giving away two return flights to Hawaii to one lucky participant. Each year corporate teams are boosted by big-name surfer ‘ring-ins’ including seven times world female surfing champion, Layne Beachley.

Hawaiian Airlines introduces more Special Meals

Effective October 1, 2018, Hawaiian Airlines has expanded its International special meals to now include Vegan (VGML) and Gluten Free (GFML) offerings in the economy cabin on all International flights (excluding American Samoa and Tahiti). This is in addition to the Vegetarian/Lacto Ovo (VLML) and Child (CHML) meal options that are already offered.

The special meal requests are included for both 1st and 2nd service on flights between Australia and Hawaii.

Special meal orders must be placed at least 48 hours prior to departure, and the request can be entered directly into the booking as an SSR entry or the customer can call Hawaiian Airlines’ Australian Reservations on 1300 661 339 to make the request.

Island of Hawaii Visitors Bureau and Hawaii County announce Pono Pledge

The Island of Hawaii Visitors Bureau (IHVB) and County of Hawaii have partnered to launch the “Pono Pledge,” a new public information campaign aimed at educating and encouraging residents and visitors to be safe, responsible and respectful to each other and the environment while enjoying the bounty of the island of Hawaii.

Through funding from the County of Hawaii’s Research and Development Department’s Tourism Marketing Program, the Pono Pledge initiative hopes to build awareness to help protect and preserve the island’s natural resources and wildlife.

IHVB and the County of Hawaii are looking to make an immediate impact with the launch of the Pono Pledge by educating residents and visitors on important topics, such as enjoying the island safely, respecting wildlife, observing no trespassing signs, properly preparing for weather and ocean conditions, and being mindful about protecting the island’s fragile environment.
