Australasian MegaFam wraps up with all nine South African provinces on proud display

South Africa attracted more than 133 000 arrivals from Australasia last year, and to further tap into this important source market, South African Tourism recently hosted 52 travel agents from the region on a mega-famil that took place across all nine provinces.

Made up of 50 Australian agents and two from New Zealand, the bumper trip was the result of a fruitful partnership between South African Tourism, South African Airways and Flight Centre.

Agents were given an attractive incentive: those who sold the most SAA flight tickets so South Africa in September and October last year earned a spot. From there, they went on to complete the SA Specialist training course, equipping them with the knowledge to sell South Africa as a destination.

Six groups of Australasian Flight Centre travel agents enjoyed six different week-long itineraries showcasing an array of attractions across the length and breadth of the country.

Travel agents say “Aloha” to Hawai‘i mega famil

Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania (HTO) has partnered with Hawaiian Airlines to present the Experience Aloha Hawai‘i Mega Famil, open exclusively to Australian travel agents, which will run from the 27th–31st October 2018.

To qualify for the famil, agents must:

  3. Sell at least four Hawaiian Airlines International return tickets to Hawaii ex Australia between 23 July -30th September

Disney Destinations, Virgin Australia and Delta Air Lines are pleased to announce three more winners on the ‘A Very Merry Toy Story Land Christmas Mega-Fam’ to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Rebecca Forster from Flight Centre, Mandy Finlayson from Wow Travel and Lauren Priestley from italktravel won their seats on the Mega-Fam after attending the recent Disney Days Roadshow. All agents who attended the Roadshow were invited to complete a questionnaire and survey to win one of three additional spots.

Personal Travel Managers explore Middle Earth and more


From the natural thermal wonders of Rotorua to the subterranean magic of Waitomo, an opportunity to experience some of the highlights of the upper North Island on a TravelManagers exclusive self-drive famil was a fantastic opportunity for six personal travel managers (PTMs).

TravelManagers’ Executive General Manager, Michael Gazal, says the six-day, five-night famil was the participants’ reward for their achievements in an Air New Zealand/ANZCRO sales initiative run during February and March.

Brand USA and Air New Zealand have today announced the 30 lucky Australiantravel agents to secure highly sought-after spots on the 2018 USA MegaFam, the largest ever trade famil to depart Australia and New Zealand for the US.

The 30 Australian travel agents will join 30 agents from New Zealand on the trip later this month which will see them split into six groups, with each group spending the first five nights exploring exciting music-themed itineraries in various, diverse U.S. destinations.
