Avis 40K scholarship is back

The Avis travel agent scholarship has kicked off for its 19th year, with more lucrative prizes for the corporate or leisure agent winner.

The prize is worth $40,000 to the lucky agent and for the 8th year running, it includes annual membership to Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and two tickets to Cruise3sixty Australasia.

“At CLIA we believe that outstanding customer service and a desire for ongoing education – two things the Avis Scholarship celebrates and rewards – are vital attributes of every successful travel agent,” CLIA general manager Brett Jardine said.

The loot includes two return Qantas business class tickets to New York, a week’s accommodation in Manhattan and Avis car rental along with meeting Avis executives and travel agencies.

On the academic side there is a Southern Cross University financial grant of up to $8000 and Polonius Resources professional coaching. There’s also two tickets to the NTIA’s and a one year honorary station on the Avis Travel Agents Advisory Board.

To apply, go to www.avisscholarship.com for registration. Applicants then have until 28 September 2015 to answer questions on their approach to customer service.

Finalists will be announced 20 October with the winner to be announced 10 November.
