Australia tops Chinese travellers’ bucket list

Chinese visitors have picked Australia as their top choice for their next holiday, followed by Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and the Maldives.

The ranking comes from Chinese International Monitor by hotels.com, published by Business Insider, and claims most Chinese (92%) prefer to visit new destinations rather than revisiting places they’ve already visited.

Chinese travellers are the biggest sector visiting Australia, with 1.35 million arrivals last year, taking over New Zealand’s top spot.

Beaches, adventure and local culture ranks as popular reasons why Chinese travellers choose to visit Australia, though shopping is relatively small factor, it is gaining in popularity according to the BI report.
