British Airways is investigating the theft of customer data, including financial details, from their website and mobile app.
An alert on the airline’s website said the breach occurred from 22:58 on August 21 to 21:45 on September 5, local time and included the personal and financial details of customers who made bookings on their website and app.
Fairfax reported the breach didn’t include passport details but involved 380,000 payments.
“The breach has been resolved and our website is working normally. We have notified the police and relevant authorities,” the airline said in a statement.
“We are deeply sorry for the disruption that this criminal activity has caused. We take the protection of our customers’ data very seriously.”
The airline has advised that anyone who thinks they may have been affected should contact their banks and credit card providers.
