Agents can get Japan trained

Kyoto, Japan at Kiyomizu-dera Shrine In the Spring.

Travel Agents can now learn all they need to know about travel in Japan thanks to a new Japan Travel Specialist programme.

The Japan Travel Specialist e-learning programme is designed to provide travel agents with an overview on travel to Japan. It contains answers to some of the most frequently asked questions by Australian travellers wishing to visit Japan.

Upon completing the course, agents will gain more confidence to recommend and sell Japan to their customers.

The e-learning is compatible with both PC web browsers and mobile devices and is split into the following 5 information modules:

    1.       Japan Basics
    2.       Travelling around Japan
    3.       Where to go
    4.       Accommodation and dining
    5.       Activities and attractions

Travel agents must first register for the e-learning course, before they can read through the information modules.

Once they have read through all the information modules they can select ‘Begin test’. Once the test has started, agents will not be able to refer back to the information modules, so we recommend that they take notes on difficult questions prior to starting the test.

Once the test has begun, agents can check their completion progress (as a percentage) from the red progress bar on the top of the screen. They can stop the test at any time and if they log back in, it will take them back to where they left off.

The test consists of 33 questions in total, with some true/false and the others four-option multiple choice.

    1.       Japan Basics – (Qs 1-5) 5 questions
    2.       Travelling around Japan (Qs 6-12) 7 questions
    3.       Where to go (Qs 13-19) 7 questions
    4.       Accommodation and dining (Qs 20-25) 6 questions
    5.       Activities and attractions (Qs 26-33) 8 questions

Once an option has selected and they have progressed to the next question by clicking ‘next’, they cannot go back and change their answer to the previous question.

After the test has been completed it will show the test result as a percentage and whether the agent passed or failed. Only scores of 80% and above will receive a pass.

Passing agents will receive a PDF certificate with their name and date of test completion, as well as a “badge” to display on their website. The certificate and badge will also be emailed to them so they have it on record. Blue bars underneath indicate which section of the test the agent lost points on.

Agents who did not pass will be encouraged to retake the course again. They can retake it as many times as they like, to get their desired score.
