AFTA comments on The Travel Awards 2019

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has welcomed the name change of The Misfits and Travel Weekly’s newest awards program for the travel industry.

As announced last week, the Australian Travel Awards will now be known as The Travel Awards to better reflect the needs of the travel industry, and to differentiate The Travel Awards from existing awards programs within the industry, such as thethe longstanding industry-owned and run National Travel Industry Awards by the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA).

In a statement, AFTA chief executive Jayson Westbury (pictured above) said the industry body was pleased with the name change.

“AFTA welcomes the name change as this provides a clear differentiation between NTIA and The Travel Awards to ensure that everyone involved in awards in the Australian Travel Industry can easily identify and recognise the different award programs,” Westbury said.

AFTA will continue to deliver the NTIA with no changes whatsoever to the program and process which has been developed over the past 12 years.
