Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) has appointed Alex de Waal as Chief Executive Officer.

De Waal was in charge of Sunlover Holidays until 2005 and Tourism Queensland marketing director until 2003, developing the “where else but Queensland” campaign.

"Alex is a wonderful team leader with a hard business edge who has both the knowledge and networks to add value to the CEO role,” TTNQ chairman Stephen Gregg said.

De Waal will begin January 6, taking the reins from Rob Giason who is leaving the role after eight years to take on consultancy work.

"I have a strong personal affinity with Tropical North Queensland and look forward to working with TTNQ's stakeholders and the industry's leaders," de Waal said.
