China Southern hikes WA commission

China Southern has stressed that Perth remains a key port to its Canton Route strategy as it launched a trade incentive in Western Australia.

The carrier, which re-opened Guangzhou-Perth reservations this week after a four week freeze, will pay agents in WA an additional 5% commission on bookings until April 8, for travel between February 1 and April 30.

China Southern regional general manager Henry He said the doubling of commission underlined its commitment to the market.

"We know that many Australians use this time of year to plan their overseas travel for the coming year and we are delighted to be able to provide an added incentive for our travel agent friends at this important time," he said.

The incentive comes the carrier prepares for Chinese New Year next month and its inaugural sponsorship of the Sculpture by the Seas spectacle at Cottesloe during March.

China Southern operates three weekly services between its Guangzhou hub and Perth.
