Carnival to refund 110% fare

It has been a year of PR disasters for Carnival Cruise Lines in the US, with engine fires, power outages, flooding toilets and food shortages.

In a move to allay the hesitations of new-cruisers, the cruise line has introduced a 110% money-back guarantee, including return flights home.

“We believe, and have so much confidence in our product, that we felt it was appropriate to make our guarantee even stronger,” Carnival’s website said.

US and Canadian residents who vacation with Carnival will have 24 hours to decide if they like their cruise. If they dislike their experience Carnival will refund 110% of their fare and organize the return home at no extra cost, with no questions asked.

Called the “Great Vacation Guarantee” it will apply on three to eight day cruises to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Canada and New England from today until April 2015.

In returning unhappy passengers home, Carnival will cover flights, incidental accommodation and ground transport.

Would this encourage you to cruise for the first time?
