Brisbane's best selfie spots

Brisbane's best selfie spots
By admin

Unlike it's more showy siblings, Brisbane keeps it's best angles hidden at times, but if you know where to look there's a trove of Instagram jewels awaiting you in the `river city'.

Here's my pick:

MOUNT COOT-THA LOOKOUT

From dawn to dusk, and beyond, this iconic lookout will give you the very best panoramas of Brisbane. The lookout faces west over the CBD all the way out to Moreton Bay and its islands.

Mount Coot-tha is steep, very steep, and the view from the top is breathtaking. But don't just let your eyes feast. There's the renowned Summit Restaurant at the top, or the trendy Kuta Cafe for the more casual crowd. #brisbane #thisisqueensland #bne #citylights

STORY BRIDGE

A Brisbane icon, the 74-year-old Story Bridge is the dazzling centrepiece of Brisbane's annual Riverfire festival, Christmas and New Year's Eve. The bridge tells the story of Queensland and the world – it's lights were the six colours of the South African flag after Nelson Mandela died and a solid maroon after the State of Origin.

Take a selfie from any angle or even on top if you're game enough to join a Story Bridge Adventure Climb. #rivercity #storybridge

ROMA STREET PARKLANDS

This CBD oasis is the world's largest subtropical garden in a city centre. Spread out over 16 hectares, the parklands have a vast range of colourful garden beds, artworks, native birds, fish ponds and waterfalls.

There are quiet spots for everyone, but also barbecues and plenty of wide open spaces for groups to enjoy. #gardens #flowers #tranquil

KANGAROO POINT CLIFFS

The cliffs are the place to be to get that quintessential Brisbane selfie – the City Botanic Gardens, the river, the skyline and your lovely mug all in one frame. It's no secret that most Queensland federal politicians, including former PM Kevin Rudd, hold all their press conferences here.

Once you snap a selfie from the top, harness up and abseil down the cliffs. You can get great Instagram photos at the bottom too. #kangaroopoint #abseiling #riverlife

MORETON BAY FIGS

Brisbane's Moreton Bay figs are the best selfie models. They stay still, they don't complain and they look amazing. Their massive, twisted buttress roots and branches beautifully spill over fences and footpaths throughout the city. Most have survived in the city for yonks. The best place to snap them is around the botanic gardens, but there's one fig where Elizabeth, Eagle and Creek streets meet that will blow your mind. #figs #roots #twisted

MOUNT GRAVATT

Hidden in the heart of suburbia, Mount Gravatt is a secret local spot where you're guaranteed to get great pics of the river city. A road winds up to the summit of the thickly wooded mountain for splendid views of Brisbane, looking north over the southern suburbs and the Gabba.

There's a walking track for the more adventurous and some grassy areas for sunset watchers. #nature #sunsets #loverslane
