Air Seychelles has reported a second quarter revenue increase of 139% citing international expansion as well as their Etihad codeshare for the rise.

The number of passengers also increased dramatically, up 56% in the second quarter alone.

“Thanks to our new codeshare partnerships and the expansion of our codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, Air Seychelles now proudly flies to four continents,” Air Seychelles CEO Cramer Ball said.

Their second quarter demonstrated an increase in revenues of 139 per cent at US $26.03 million, up from 2012 where revenues were at US $10.87 million. The total revenues for the first half of the year were up by 124 per cent.

The solid results for the airline represent the continued growth and improvement in its turnaround strategy.

“We are creating a solid foundation for the future of our airline, Seychelles tourism and our home economy, and we are on track for a second year of profitability,” Ball added.

The in-flight entertainment system has also been upgraded with 40 movies, 60 TV programmes, seven radio channels, 50 CDs and 20 games.

Air Seychelles came fourth in the most improved category in the Skytrax ratings for Africa in 2013.
