Tourism New Zealand has launched a new campaign featuring extreme athlete Chuck Berry in a bid to target youth travellers by showcasing all the country has to offer.

The ‘Five more from here’ campaign incorporates a 5X1NZ stunt video where Berry completes five adrenalin-fuelled activities in one continuous go, all in one hour, showcasing the close proximity of New Zealand’s attractions.

Tourism New Zealand director of marketing Andrew Fraser says the stunt video aims to spark conversation among youth travellers around the world, and incite excitement about the destination.

“Only in a country like ours, where there are so many things to do in such close proximity, could you experience all five extreme sports in one day,” Fraser said.

“The video shows that in an engaging and exhilarating way and gets people talking.”

The 5X1NZ stunt video is an impressive feat for a professional, but Tourism New Zealand ensures that travellers keen to experience similar adrenalin-rush activities can get involved too.

Popular activities such as skydiving, snowboarding, mountain biking, bungy jumping and jetboating are marketed as activities you can fit into a single day, with partner STA Travel helping to make this happen.

“The tagline comes from the idea that in New Zealand you can have five amazing experiences in one day, and there’s still heaps more to do from here,” Fraser said.

Social media will play a key role in the campaign, as Tourism New Zealand seeks to generate conversation about the country across the globe, with the campaign rolling out this month across markets in Australia, US, UK, Germany, Brazil and Japan.

The youth sector account for 22% of the total arrivals in New Zealand, and with the potential to stay longer, travel more widely and get involved in more activities, youth travellers are a priority sector for Tourism New Zealand.
