Kerala grows visitation

Kerala Tourism has wrapped up its Australian Roadshows this week, educating over 215 trade members on why more Australians are visiting the enchanting destination that is ranked as one of National Geographic’s top 10 paradises in the world.

The past four years has seen solid growth in visitor numbers to Kerala, with a 60% growth in visitor numbers from Australia and a 68% increase from New Zealand.

Hosting the evening, secretary of Kerala Tourism, Mr Suman Billa IAS said these figures are set to “strengthen further over the next four years as air-lift and product diversification increases”, in turn enticing more visitors.

Billa shared I Kerala’s offering to visitors, from not only a bounty of unparalleled natural attractions, but also a world of serenity where travellers can have a truly out-of-this-world experience.

“A unique, untouched paradise characterised by its rolling hills, stunning waterways, wildlife and authentic cuisine. It is the perfect holiday destination for those Australian and New Zealand travellers who have a sense of adventure and thirst for a distinctive cultural experience,” Billa said.

A collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) to recreate the original spice route in a move which will connect 31 countries across Europe, Asia and Far East, will give Kerala Tourism new tourism offerings.

Joining Kerala Tourism for the Roadshows were ten key suppliers, including Abad Hotels and Resorts, The Blue Yonder, CGH Earth, Intersight Tours and Travels, Kairali – The Ayervedic Healing Village, Kumarakom Lake Resort, Lotus DMC, Marvel Tours, Spiceland Holidays and Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel.
