Phil Hoffman Travel expands into SA
By admin

Phil Hoffmann Travel (PHT) has purchased two of South Australia’s most successful regional travel agencies, bolstering expansion into the state.

As of 1 October, Harvey World Travel Gawler and Harvey World Travel Barossa

Valley located in Nuriootpa will be rebranded and operating under the Phil Hoffmann Travel banner.

PHT chief executive officer Peter Williams said the purchase had significant upside for local travellers – especially given that the previous owners are staying on with PHT as minority shareholders and Branch Managers under the new ownership structure.

The two new agencies have successfully been operating over 20 years and bring a widely respected rapport with their local communities. They will enable PHT to service clients in the north, from as far afield as Clare through to the Riverland.

Adding the two new businesses (with a total of 8 staff) takes PHT’s total South Australian workforce to 210.

PHT experienced 11% growth in 2013 – 2014 on previous year to post a record turnover of $127m, and continues to enjoy strong sales growth due to the rising popularity of cruising among holidaymakers.

PHT leisure market accounts for 77% of total business, of which cruise accounts for 37%, business travel 20% and incentive group travel 3%.

The new agency’s add to PHT’s other branches at Glenelg, Adelaide City, Norwood, Semaphore, Stirling, Hyde Park and Victor Harbor.
