Mantra forges ahead with Bali plan

The Mantra Group has confirmed its second property in Bali, just one week after the official opening of its Mantra Nusa Dua property with the deal to see the debut of its BreakFree brand in Asia.

The 3.5 star Legian property, formerly known as the Sing Ken Ken Boutique Hotel, will become the BreakFree Sing Ken Ken in early October. It features 80 rooms, three dining outlets and a beachside location.

"We are confident that BreakFree's combination of great service and cost effective quality accommodation will work well in this region, " Mantra chief executive Bob East said.

There are currently 24 hotels and resorts in the BreakFree portfolio, with several properties divested over recent years because they "weren't within our brand standards", according to East.

"As a result, we have a solid network of good quality hotels in Australia, and the BreakFree brand is ready to be taken to a market like Bali," he said.

The deal represents another partnership with MJB Hoteliers, following their initial Nusa Dua collaboration. A further six hotels are currently under negotiation, expected to join the network by the end of the year.
