AFTA reveals details of latest travel scam
By admin

A travel scam operating in Victoria involving Priority Q Travel has been highlighted to members of The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) and ATAS participants following advice from the Hobson Bay Crime Investigation Unit, a division of the Victorian Police.

The alleged scam involves Priority Q Travel deceiving legitimate travel agents into booking travel arrangements for customers of Priority Q Travel, however payments for these bookings were unpaid by the company resulting in cancelled bookings.

Police further allege that some of Priority Q Travel’s customers have “found themselves offshore when their travel arrangements have been cancelled”, according to AFTA.

Priority Q Travel, which operates from a home address in Melbourne’s outer suburb Newport, is not a participant of ATAS.

Furthermore, the Priority Q Travel website appears to be taken down, meanwhile the company’s twitter feed has not been updated since July 4.

AFTA advises if any organisation or person suspect they have become victim to Priority Q Travel, they can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and generate an information report.
