Emirates throws shade at United

Following yet another scandal at United Airlines – where a passenger was dragged bloodied off of an overbooked flight – at least one airline has found a silver lining.

Following TripAdvisor’s inaugural airline category in its Travellers’ Choice awards, which crowned Emirates #1 in a few areas, the airline has taken a bit of a jab at its competitor.

TripAdvisor reviewers ranked Emirates best in categories of First Class and Economy Class, before crowning it the number one airline in the whole world.

So the Gulf carrier created a cheeky ad, in which it not only points out its accolades, but also how friendly it is in the wake of United’s very unfriendly treatment of its passengers.

Given United’s motto is “Fly the friendly skies”, this whole thing is pretty ironic.

And for all the latest on the United passenger scandal, click here. And we thought the leggings debacle was bad.

Take a look:

Fly the friendly skies with a real airline.

Emirates was responding to comments made by United Airlines CEO Oscar Munoz in March about Gulf Airlines (like Emirates) not actually being airlines.

“Well Mr. Munoz,” the video reads. “According to Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel site, not only are we a real airline we are the best airline.”

The video concludes with, “Fly the friendly skies… this time for real.”

As of this morning, the video had been viewed over 68,000 times.

UA have some fences to mend fast.
      BTW
EK are far from the best airline in the world. FJ’s business class on their new long haul jets is superb & cheap. Flew them recently direct SYD/LAX/SYD & it cost very little, got a great sleep on long haul both ways & even had a chance to stretch my legs in Fiji (if I’d had more time I would have stopped over in Fiji for 2 nights)
